How It Started

In 2003, a friend gave me a copy of the book, One Minute Millionaire by Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen.  It sat on my bookshelf for a couple of years, and then, as sometimes happens with books when you’re “ready” to read them, it just seemed to jump out at me.  I began to read and was blown away by the inspiring story and the information I read about creating multiple streams of income.  I finished the book, then immediately started reading Mark and Bob’s second book, Cracking the Millionaire Code.

I’m a pharmacist and at that time I was living in Galveston, Texas, commuting via ferry to work in a pharmacy across Galveston Bay on the Bolivar Peninsula.  One particular morning (THE morning) I was reading Cracking the Millionaire Code while aboard the ferry on the way to work.  I became energized and inspired by the concept of bringing a product to market - some new idea, some improvement that would enrich the lives of my world community.  I said a little prayer - an affirmation - that I would receive guidance as to what I could bring to the world.

Minutes later, as I drove off the ferry and proceeded to drive the remaining few miles to work, I was digging in my little purse that only contained about 6 items.  I was trying to find my lipstick (as we have all done while driving – shhh, don’t tell anyone…) and, even in that tiny purse, I couldn’t get my fingers on my lipstick.  It was at that moment that the whole idea of the modular organizer system flooded into my brain fully formed like one of Mozart’s symphonies!

At my lunch break, I phoned my friend, Mary, told her my idea—she said “I LOVE it!” and we began talking about how we could bring the idea into the world. In the meantime, my husband, Daye, and I went to Chicago to attend Robert Allen and Mark Victor Hansen’s Enlightened Millionaire Institute (now Enlightened Wealth Institute (EWI) because millionaire is too limiting a term…). It was here that we really began networking in earnest. We made fabulous friends and contacts including Bob Circosta’s TV Shopping University which was instrumental in giving us the vision and fundamentals as to how to really develop a product and bring it to market. (Watch for us on TV in the future!)

Mary and I quickly threw together a crude prototype and set out for Bob Circosta’s workshop in Florida and came back raring to go. We immediately began refining the prototype - experimenting with sizes, shapes, and fabrics.  We began gathering information from small, informal focus groups as to how to best serve the needs of women (and men) in organizing their purses.  It was an exciting and daunting time!

After several months, the idea went into “percolation” mode where it bubbled along with not a lot of activity. Looking back, I can see that this “silence” was vital in giving all the new elements that were coming together time to go deep and organize themselves. Mary eventually went on to pursue other ideas of her own, but I will always be grateful to her for the focus, courage and inspiration she gave me in those early days. Today we remain great friends and mutual cheerleaders in our respective endeavors.

In November 2006, Inner Peace™ could wait no more and it pushed its way back into my consciousness with the declaration, “OK, Jaelin, the time is Now!”  Then began the crescendo of activities and learning that go into bringing a product to market: design refinements, finding a manufacturer, business plan, crunching the numbers, package design, website, marketing, order fulfillment, and a myriad of other details that continue to materialize on a daily basis.   Today, my partner in this business is my husband, Daye.  He is my right hand man and my biggest supporter!

InnerPurse Jaelin and DayeI have been inspired by many entrepreneurs who have shared their experience and wisdom with me. It is my desire to share my journey with other women in business even as I continue to learn. In the coming months I will be sharing my experiences and the details of this process with all of you through this website. I believe in the power of cooperation rather than competition, even in a free market milieu. The more we can help each other the stronger each of us become.

It has been important to me over the last few years to develop the best product I could to make the lives of people all over the world better -  more peaceful.  That’s the vision I have for my products and for my life.

Faithfully yours,
Jaelin InnerPurse
